Alboraya, Valencia, Horta Nord
Alboraia in Valencian; in Spanish, Alboraya, is a town and municipality of the province of Valencia, Spain. It is situated very close to the city of Valencia.
Originally a farming community, Alboraia has grown in the last decades following the development of the metropolitan area of Valencia. Better transport communications (including 2 stations of the Valencia metro system : Palmaret and Alboraia.
Traditional crops are based on irrigated, intensive farming. Specially important are the tiger nuts (Spanish: Chufas; Valencian: Xufes), which are used to produce the world famous horchata, a popular refreshment. The town is actually full of orxateries - bars to relax and chill out while having an horchata in the hot Valencian summers.
The Valencian fantasy writer Laura Gallego García lives in Alboraya.
