Brightlingsea One Design
Brightlingsea One Design are beautiful boats that were first launched in 1928, and as they say, are by no means old fashioned. These true classics offer fantastic racing for crews and the main body of the fleet is based in Brightlingsea, Essex, some kept on swinging moorings in the harbour, and others dry sail from the Brightlingsea Boat Park and Ride. With a generous rig, the Brightlingsea One Design is great in light airs and makes for an exciting sail on breezy days, and can also sail and surf downwind in the right conditions. Most of the boats have a traditional wooden clinker construction, and with a major restoration programme in recent years, they are in excellent condition. In recent years, the introduction of glass fibre has ensured their characteristics and performance match the wooden boats. Owning your own is ideal for someone who enjoys doing their own maintenance and they are perfect for racing crews, family and friends.
