Dresden is an interesting city with an interesting history, and the capital of Saxony in eastern Germany lying in the broad basin of the Elbe River. The city was almost destroyed by allied bombings in 1945, but today rebuilt features classic art and architecture, funky restaurants and shops and a great nightlife. There are few city silhouettes more striking than Dresden’s, and it is known worldwide for its historical landmarks.
