Matarangi is small modern tourist town on the Coromandel Peninsula of New Zealand. The small town consists of 300 permanent residents and over 7000 holiday residents during the summer periods of December 30 - February. Matarangi is very new having only started development since 1985 and is built on a white sand spit.
